A Pre-Blast or Pre-Construction Inspection involves one or more inspectors taking narrated video footage of the pre-existing conditions of your home or business prior to construction or other blasting work taking place. The inspection is completed on the full interior and exterior of the building and takes about 30-45 minutes for a typical single-family home. The video is retained by K&M Inspection Consultants during the construction and a copy can be provided to the owner.

Federal, provincial and municipal agencies impose restrictions and laws pertaining to ground vibration and air overpressure from blasting operations. These limits are based on extensive research conducted by international agencies and specialists. One of the leading agencies, and one of the most restrictive, is the United States Bureau of Mines. The USBM has contributed a major part of the technical data on blast design and control. Current legal and recommended vibration limits result from this research. By adhering to these limits, and by following safe blasting procedures, the blaster minimizes or eliminates risk to the surrounding area.

We are an independent company, contracted by the blasting contractor. Our goal is to provide an accurate record of the conditions of your property prior to construction taking place. An accurate inspection benefits and protects all parties involved. Halifax Regional Municipality and other municipalities have found this to be a legitimate method of protecting the interests of property owners.
